    Okay, since in the past I have failed utterly at this, I am wiping my own slate blank and calling a redo. I want to write ficlets (zomg, I know) for the flist. I want to. I really really do. So what I'd like is for y'all to leave a request here for a ficlet, with a pairing of your choice and.... a line of dialogue. :D Yes, I'm evil like that. You have to write ONE LINE of dialogue, that is the prompt that I will use to write your ficlet. So.

    Builder Wanted
    So I'm mostly done with [info]alisanne's holiday Snarry, and I was wondering if someone would please look it over for me and help me get it smooth and pretty? It's a nice little ficlet, but I think it needs a bit of work. It's only missing two scenes, but I could make it longer. The thing is, I haven't spent a lot of time on it, but I think it's got potential. The bones are there. I'm just so much better at sitting down and pounding out a story than I am at editing and moving stuff around and figuring out what needs to be elaborated on and what needs to be cut.

    So if anyone would care to look over what I've got, I could forward it to you today. It's got a bit of Master/Pet and some various silliness and Harry flirting with many people, just in case any of that squicks you.

    And if no one's interested, I'd like a grammar/spelling beta for when it's done, please.

    Since it's December, the holidays approaching, I just have to rec my all time favorite Christmas Snarry. [info]jadzialove's Humbug (the link goes to her skyehawke page). I just adore this.

    Also, if you recall I squeed from the mountain tops about [info]littleblackbow's [info]snarry_games entry, What I did on my summer vacation. Well, she followed it up with a holiday themed video and it's just beautiful. Through the Snowflakes.

    And by chance does anyone know if there is a Snarry for any of the classic Christmas movies like "It's a Wonderful Life" or "Miracle on 34th Street"?

    Long (very geeky) story short, I made Ubuntu install and work on my laptop. With no knowledge of the terminal interface beyond ifconfig (and my basic networking commands like ping).

    In other news, Yule Balls has started. Next up for me is dear santa (research is underway) followed by Wizard Love (unless my email is lying to me and I've forgotten a fest). We're not going to discuss how possible that is.
    Oh, and while doing research I finished my election scarf and took a really bad picture of it.

    Question--Quotation Marks
    Question for the f-list; I have Word at home, but only and Abiword at work, and of course I can use googledocs. My problem is with quotation marks; I usually use Times New Roman and get the lovely curved quotation marks in Word, but if I bring up the document in any of these other applications, it leaves the curvy quotation marks as they are--but all the new ones are straight! I have a loathing of straight quotation marks, but I can't figure out how to change them. :( Abiword and googledocs don't seem to have a formatting option for it.

    It's just that I'd really like to work on [info]alisanne's fic some more today (Boss is out!) but replacing all the quotation marks would be such a pain--and ugly. I want my pretty, curvy ones.

    Does anyone know how to fix this? ETA: I can't use WordPerfect either, unfortunately.
